Atina Ndindeng, Chartered MCIPD, has taken up the post of Area Director for Cheshire, the Wirral and Liverpool at ourHRpeople. He joins the franchise after more than a decade as Principal Consultant in the HR & Organisational Development team at Cheshire West and Chester, where he led business-process optimisation, HR analytics and end-to-end people management, in a highly regulated local-government environment.
With 18 years’ cross-sector experience spanning strategic HR leadership, employment-law compliance, HRIS upgrades, change management, talent and performance management and HR digitisation, Atina delivers evidence-based, people-centred solutions that boost productivity and culture in equal measure.
He lives in Chester with his wife and two children. Away from work you’ll find him hiking the Sandstone Trail, enjoying family days at Chester Zoo, experimenting with world cuisines in his kitchen or mentoring young professionals over a flat white.

We caught up with Atina to chat about his life in HR and hopes for his future career as an ourHRpeople Area Director.
What area do you cover?
I serve clients across Cheshire, the Wirral and Liverpool, including Chester, Ellesmere Port, Winsford, Northwich, Runcorn, Frodsham, Birkenhead and Liverpool city centre. My local network spans Chester Zoo, the University of Chester and Wirral Metropolitan College University Centre, and I also manage HR technology and change projects for international firms.
What will you specialise in?
Strategic HR leadership, complex employee relations, HR digital transformation and embedding diversity, inclusion and well-being into business culture, underpinned by advanced HR analytics and employment-law expertise.
What do you bring to your clients?

Describe one of your HR successes.
At Wirral Metropolitan College University Centre I modernised engagement strategies, revamped communications and set up a robust apprentice- support framework. Results: **+25 % employee- engagement score, –15 % voluntary turnover, CIPD apprenticeship rating lifted from “Requires Improvement” (3) to “Outstanding” (1), and a 100 % End-Point-Assessment pass rate for trainee consultants three years in a row.
What are the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Listen first, adapt quickly and never compromise on fairness; trust is HR’s true currency.
What aspects of HR do you enjoy most?
Guiding organisations through complex change and watching both people and performance soar as a result.
Why is good HR essential to all businesses?
It safeguards compliance, unlocks talent and builds cultures where innovation and performance flourish. Good HR turns strategy into sustainable success.
Top tip for engagement and retention?
Listen, act, repeat. Regular, genuine dialogue plus clear growth pathways and timely recognition keep people switched on and loyal.
If you weren’t in HR, what would you do?
Lecture in business and management research. I love sharing knowledge and shaping the next generation of leaders.
